Eimer Places 4th at State

On February 19th, Dylan Eimer earned a 4th place medal at the IHSA state wrestling tournament. With this finish, he is the only freshman in Olympia history to ever place at State! The state wrestling tournament was held at the State Farm Center in Champaign. Dylan had to win at the regional and sectional level first to even advance to the state competition.

Olympia wrestling has over 20 wrestlers, including both boys and girls. They are coached by Josh and Justin Collins. They kept busy all season with 19 meets, duels, and tournaments. Dylan has had so much support from his teammates and coaches.

Olympia competed in the 1A division, with Dylan being in the 106 lbs. weight class. At the IHSA State meet this year, Dylan Eimer won his first and second match, but then fell to Tyson Waughtel. Dylan fought his way back up for the 4th place title.

I was able to interview Dylan Eimer. He stated, ”My wrestling season was pretty great, winning the Illini Bluffs Tournament to start off the season, and placing 3rd at the Princeton Tournament! The best part of the season was definitely going to the tournaments, even though we only went to two tournaments this season. My most memorable part of the season this year was going 7-0 at conference duels and becoming all-conference. My goals for the upcoming years of my wrestling career are: 3x state champion, 4x all-conference, and have an undefeated wrestling season. This year, the state meet went great, winning my first match by a pin, and winning my second match by a pin, and ended up taking 4th place at 1A 106 lbs.”

Congratulations Dylan! Olympia Spartans are proud of you.
